Glacier Bay

What a great day we had at Glacier Bay today. We were up at 7am and ready to go. We decided to eat in the dining room for breakfast and we are so glad we did. The food was wonderful and hot. After breakfast, I did 2 loads of laundry and Beth downloaded pictures. The park rangers came to the boat about 10:30am. Three of them had to climb a rope ladder to get aboard. One of them gave a presentation on the cycle of the glacier bay. It was very interesting and informational. We entered Glacier Bay about 11:30. The park ranger pointed out to us various animals, glaciers, and other facts while traveling down the bay to Margerie Glacier. Along the way we saw sea lions, sea otters and a whale. We made it to Margerie Glacier about 3pm. It is the largest glacier in the bay. It stand 250 feet above sea level and 100 feet below sea level. It was a site to see. We spent about an hour there waiting to see if any broke off and fell into the water. We saw a couple little falls but no big ones. We did hear several rumblings in the background. It sounded like the booms at 4th of July. We headed back down the bay on our way to Skagway. We had dinner in the dining room. I had roasted chicken and Beth had pork and sauerkraut. For dessert I had a apple and walnut spring roll and Beth had white nectarine ice cream. It is very hard to put into word the veiws of the mountains and glaciers we saw today, but I hope the pictures help.
