Clean Up Day

Why can't people show up when the say they will? We were up at 7am this morning because the chimney guy was supposed to start at 8am, apparently there is no difference between 8 and 10 because that is when he showed up. But Jeanette & I made good use of the time. While Jeanette was reorganizing the shed for winter storage, I was yanking all of the plants in the pots around the pool. Then the pots themselves were emptied of their dirt and that got dumped in the brush line behind the fence. I pulled the '35 out of the garage, and delivered the pots to Jeanette who arranged them in the garage storage closet. By the end of the morning, the pool area and most of the yard was cleaned up for fall. Tomorrow the pool will be shut down and covered for the winter. We still have to move the tiki bar into the shed but that will wait until it is closer to getting the snow blower out of the shed. Getting back to the chimney guy, he was here until about 5:30 working. The fireplace and oil heater chimneys are now both capped, so rain, snow and animals cannot get into them. The heater chimney was also installed with a liner, it is now up to fire code. But the main reason we had him come out was to re point the stone in the chimney, as water could seep into the mortar cracks and ruin the roofing job we just finished. He used a diamond wheel grinder to grind out the old mortar and then pointed the stones again. So now the entire top of our house is new again. Today's picture is one last of the look at the pool. The pool fairies come tomorrow to close the pool for the year.

Cold Day..

It was very chilly this morning when we got up. I finally had to break down and put on jeans and a hoodie. Beth had to pick Jojo up from school around 1pm. Kim came by to get her a little after 2pm, then left to go pick up Dawn. We had to drop off the jeep over at Maggie and DJ as their car was in the shop and would not be done for a couple of days. Kyle had his first home football game today. He is the 3rd string tight end but still played a fair number of plays and did really well. We could only stay for a hour as we had to take Dawn to Exton. She was meeting Jo and some other people for dinner. We went to Cracker Barrel for dinner. Maggie called and said Payton found a nail in the wheel of the jeep. We said we would be by to see it after we were done at Sam's club. We took a look at the tire and found a small nail in the wheel. Beth was able to pull it out but it was iffy as to whether it was going to leak. So we brought Maggie back to our house and she took my truck. If the tire is flat in the moring we will call AAA to come change it and then have it fixed. Today's picture is of kyle at his game today.

Rainy fall day

After breakfast. Beth dropped me off at Target while she went to pick up her computer. I had finished shopping and still no call from her. She finally called and said she was on her way. She did not sound happy. She told me that they could really not find anything wrong with the computer and they were able to get it working. What a waste of time. We then headed to the food store. My foot was killing me by the time we got home. We had lunch and Beth began to cut the front yard. She had finished in time for the a big rain storm to roll in. Talk about perfect timing. We are watching the football and hoping for a Dallas loss. Today's picture is of a praying mantis I saw at P-town on our last trip. Fifteen days and counting.

Chiefs Eagles Game

DJ and Jen arrived about 10am this morning. They were going with us to the football game. DJ and I wore our chiefs attire and Beth and Jen wore eagles. We had always said that we were eagles transplants, but we bleed chief red. We really did not expect to beat the eagles, but were hoping for a good close game. Well that did not happen. The chiefs lost 34 to 14 and they did not look good at all. The eagles on the other had did look good and are 2 - 1 with the bye week coming up. We left at the end of the 3rd quarter as we always do to beat the traffic, but ending up hitting it any way. I was able to watch most of the late game and Beth went looking at new cars with her niece. All in all it was a good day. Today's picture is of DJ and I at the game.

Fall weather...

We had to get up early this morning as the chimney guy was due to be here at 8am. Well he called and was way lost. It took him almost an hour to find us. He did not have a GPS and was using a paper map. After taking a look at he chimney it is going to cost us $2000 to get it up to code and fix it. Not what we expected, but the good news is that he will be out on Wednesday to do the work. It was a grey overcast cold day. When I got up this morning the temperature in the house was 65 degrees. Beth had a lot of errands to due, so she headed out about 10:30am. I finished cleaning the rest of the house and headed downstairs to watch football all day. The guy we called to look at the guest room called about 2pm and wanted to come over today to look at room we needed fixed. The guy ask me, of all people, for directions. Of course I was no help. I don't think I will every be able to find my way around the roads here. He did have a GPS and was here about 30 minutes later. We talked about the thing we needed an estimate for. He said the ceiling was not that bad and would take very little work to fix and there was no mold issue. He was just getting ready to leave when Beth arrived home. He said he would call us and let us know the estimate amounts. Since there is no mold issue we are not in a real big rush to get it started. It started to rain about 6pm and is not expected to stop til early afternoon. Sure hope it is not raining for the game tomorrow, but still might be cold. We might even have to wear jeans tomorrow. The Eagles play the Chiefs, so it will be an interesting game. Don't expect the Chief's to win but DJ and I will have on our Chiefs gear tomorrow at the game. Today's picture is of the Eagles/Chiefs game in KC four years ago. Beth and I went to KC for the game. The Eagles won that game, but it was a great game and we had fun.

Waffles and Ice Cream

I have to say we were more productive today then we have been all week. After breakfast, Beth went outside and pulled all the annual plants out of the flower bed. They were looking pretty sorry after the shingles fell on them. I have to say the flower beds looks pretty bear right now. I worked on cleaning the inside. I had to dust our room, clean the bathroom, and the mud room. By them my foot was really hurting and I had to get off of it for a while. We went over to Dawns and then headed down to Costco. We then came home and waited for Jo to call. We were invited to the Santini's for waffles and ice cream for dinner. Now mind you I have never heard of having it for dinner, but it is something they do often. Jo's mom made home made waffles and we had chocolate or vanilla ice cream and then toppings. After dinner, we talked about the January Disney plans and tried to figure out where we wanted to eat the week we are there. We finished watching the Phillies lose again. We have to get up early tomorrow as the guy is coming to look at the chimney. Today's picture is the last of the humming bird this year. We have not seen him in several days, so we assume he has gone south for the winter. See you next year little guy.

Nothing kind of day...

We slept in this morning and had breakfast around 9am. We laid around the house until 11am and finally took showers. Beth had a doctor's appointment at 3pm. The doctor told her unless she was having pain, which she is not, to let the shot work a little longer. So no news there. We went to Applebee's for dinner since I was not in the mood to cook. We had a gift card, so it ended up only costing us a $1.62 plus tip to have dinner. Not bad. We are hoping to be more productive tomorrow but would not hold my breath on it. Today's picture is from the whale watching trip we took in P-town. We hope to do it again when we are there in 2 weeks.

All by myself...

I had a chiropractor appointment at 9am this morning. I was still having trouble with my neck from the Monday adjustment. Today was the first time I had been out by myself in the last month. It felt weird to drive. After seeing Dr. Bill I know why my neck/shoulder was hurting, I had 2 ribs out of place. Dr. Bill says a sneeze or cough could cause it and with the change in seasons both are high on the list. I then went to Target and Bed Bath and Beyond to do some shopping. My foot is still sore and I will give it another couple days and call the doctor again if it is not better. I can not go back to wearing the boot as my other heel is starting to hurt from it. Beth had to drain the hot tub today and filled the pool with the water. It really needed to be scrubbed down before winter and now was a good time as the pool needed water. After that she cut the grass. I went to Lowe's to see if there was anything to kill stink bugs. They seem to be really bad this year. Of course the only way to kill them is by using an exterminator. I hate these stupid bugs. We had to take Beth's computer to Best Buy tonight to get fixed. It keeps freezing up all the time and she can not burn DVDs and CDs. Took us an hour and a half to drop it off. What morons. Today's picture is of the sun set at Provincetown. We will be back there in a couple of weeks and can hardly wait.

Movie Day..

We both really did nothing this morning. Beth called Dawn and talked about going to lunch and then to the movies. We meet at Max and Erma's about noon. I love their tortilla soup. My movie, Whiteout, started at 1:50pm and we had about 35 minutes to kill before then, so we headed to Lowe's to look around. Did not see the wall boards we were looking for, so it was off to the movies. Beth and Dawn were see Cloudy with a side of meatballs in 3-D. I was the only one in my theater. It was kinda nice. We headed home about 4pm, just in time for rush hour traffic. It was not back and we made in home in good time. The Phillies had a double header today. They won the first game, but lost the second. No photo tonight.

Picking up nails...

We headed to the chiropractor this morning at 8:45am. After we were done we headed to Reading to the outlet mall. I was looking for a chief's yellow t-shirt for the game this Sunday, but could not find one. We then headed back home around noon. Beth went to the rental place to rent a large magnetic roller. We have been find nails and were sure they missed a lot more. We had lunch and Beth proceeded to roll the yard looking for nails. I did the laundry. My foot was starting to hurt again so not sure if I will go back to the boot or try to tough it out. My left heel is taking a pounding from wearing the boot and the heel spur is starting to flair up. Will they ever be better??? Beth spend about 5 hours rolling the yard and found a bunch of nails. Watching Monday Night Football as the Phillies have an off night. They have a double header tomorrow since the football is in Miami and we are playing the Marlins. Should be exciting since the Marlins are 8 games behind us and in second place. Today's picture is of Beth rolling the yard looking for nails. She said it was pretty heavy and hard to roll in high grass.

Eagle's Home Opener...

Beth got up and went to church and I slept in til 8am. Today was the Eagles home opener. The big question was whether to wear the boot or not. I did not wear it all day yesterday, but was not on my foot much. After talking to Beth and waying the options, I decided not to wear it. Wendy and Barb came over about 10:30am as they were going to the game with us. We had a hard time finding a place to park. The tailgaters were taking 2 sometime 3 spaces. We finally found a spot in the back. We walked very slowly to the entrance. The foot was doing well for only being out of the boot a day. The game ended up being a blow out. We did not expect to win with our starting QB out, but hoped it would be a closer game then it was. The walk back to the car seemed to take forever. My foot was really sore by the time we got to the car. Beth even had me wait and went the rest of the way to get the car. We spent the rest of the evening watching the 4pm game. I put ice on my foot as soon as we came home and it is feeling better. It will just take time I think. Today's picture is of a hot air balloon that flew over on Saturday. we get few of them in the spring and fall.

Football saturday..

We were finally able to check out the new roof this morning. It looks really nice. We went into the attic to see the mess that was up there and to check out the new fan. It was so quite, you could not hear it running. The upstairs need a good sweeping with all the dirt from the roof, but it seems to be cooler. Beth began her walking around the yard with her little magnet looking for loose nails. We found several of then in the driveway, but we believe that is from them removing the dumpster. Beth did find several more in the yard so we are a little nervous about using the lawnmower, but we can only hope for the best. I was able to watch the Penn State game. I love watching college football. Maggie asked if we could watch the boys for a little while this afternoon. She and DJ needed some alone time. We said sure and always look forward to spending time with our god kids. Kyle was not feeling well and Payton was a ball of energy. We had pizza and Maggie picked them up around 6:30pm. It was a fun day. Today's picture is of the new roof and the solar panel for the fan.

New Roof..

The roofers showed up about 8am this morning. They began ripping off the old shingles. Buster was not at all happy about what was going on. It was a good thing he had a grooming appointment at 9am. I forgot how noisy it can get with getting a new roof. I finally gave up and went downstairs to organize my scrap booking stuff. My poor flowers took a beating today with shingles being shoved off the roof on to them. It is a good thing it is the beginning of fall and they do have much longer. I think the noise finally got to Beth about 3pm. It was a good thing Buster was ready to be picked up. It allowed her to get our for a while. Bang Bang Bang gets a little old after 6 hours of hearing it. The roofers finally finished up about 7pm. We still have some old shingles and paper in some of the top of the bushes. We are just hoping they were able to pick up most of the nails. They found several wasp nest in the gutters, because of the gutter guards we have. We told them not to put them back on, but to save them. We hope it will cut down on the number of bees and wasp we have around the house next years. Some of the nest were as big as your hand. Very scary. We will post the final picture of the finished roof tomorrow since it was way dark when they left.

Not ready to leave the boot...

Boy was it a chilly day today. We both had on long sleeve shirts. We had to go down and see our stock broker this afternoon. We decided to sell some stock that I have but it is in certificate form. So we talked to Pete and got everything squared away for the sell when the price is right. I tried walking a little bit this evening without the boot. Found out I was not ready. My foot is still sore when walking, so back to the boot again. The roofer will be here at 8am in the morning, so we have to be up, showered, and dressed. It will be nice to have a new roof and have no more leaks. Today's picture is from the pumpkin carving party last year. It will soon be time to look for patterns for this year's pumpkins.

Corn in the freezer...

After breakfast this morning we decided to go to the Amish store. They have the best frozen fruit and other products. It took us about 45 minutes to get there, but well worth it. They have frozen tart cherries, which Beth loves. On the way home we passed a big road side market. They had corn on the cob, so we got 2 dozen to put in the freezer and have tonight for dinner. We had lunch and Beth finished picking up and putting away all the pool toys. We will have no need for them the rest of the year. I blanched the corn and put it into vac-u-seal bags for the freezer. Beth had to pick up Kim around 6:30pm and go to the bank. Boy was the corn good and sweet. We might have to go back for more. Watching the Phillies right now. We have all the windows open and it is nice outside. I don't think we will need the air on anymore as the temperature will not climb out of the 70's the next 7 days. Great fall weather. Today's picture is of what the trees during colors last year. Can't wait to go to P-town this year and see the fall trees up there.

Late morning

We watched both football games last night and did not go to sleep until 1:30am. We both slept until a little after 9am this morning, so the morning went by fast. We had a light breakfast and headed outside. I started to weed the front flower bed and worked about an hour and knew it was time to come in. My back, hip and neck were really hurting but then. So I started laundry and cleaned the kitchen. Beth started weeding Pooh's corner and finished about 1:30pm. We had lunch and Jess came by. She ended up cutting the back yard, so Beth did not have to. We had dinner and settled in to watch the Phillie's win again. We are headed to the hot tub for a much needed soak. We have a visitor in the pool, I think it is a salamander and it makes our picture of the day.

A day out...

Today was a get out and shop day. We headed to Target around 10am. It felt so good to get out and do a little shopping. It did take a little while for me to get through the store and I was a little tired, but still good to be out. We left Target and went to the grocery store. We only needed a few things, so it was not a major trip. By the time we were done I could tell I had not been out in a while. We then headed to Best Buy. It was the first time either of us had been there since it had opened. Beth needed to pick up some PC system clean-up thing and I just looked around a little bit. I was really tired when we were done. We headed home. I had a hair appointment at 12:45, but she called and asked if I could come in early. So we had a little lunch and headed out. Only takes about an hour to get a color and cut, which is good cause I was so in need of a nap. We are trying to build up my strength before the game on Sunday. It will require a lot of walking and stairs, but I am not missing the first home game. Today's picture is of our 2 yr old flowering pear tree. It looks like a deer is using it to scrape the velvet from it's new antlers. Beth noticed it while cutting the grass today and has since wrapped it in burlap.

Football sunday...

We woke up early and had breakfast at the diner. We only had a couple of things to do before the start of the football game. All the food was ready to go before the first guests arrived. It was great to start the season off with a win for the Eagles, but not so good that the quarterback now has a cracked rib and could be out 2 - 4 weeks. Everyone had a great time and we enjoy watching the game with our friends. It was nice to finally just watch the game and not worry about how my fantasy player were doing. The Phillies had a double header today. they won the first game and we are now watching them between plays of the football game. Today's picture is of the football hall of fame. It would be nice to go back when there are not as many people as there were on the hall of fame weekend.

Scrapbook and Football

Today was the day I have been looking forward to for several months. The start of Saturday football. I only had a couple of things to do this morning to get ready for the party tomorrow. I put the roast beef on about 10am and began making the deviled eggs. I had everything done and was done watching football and scrap booking by kickoff of the 12:30pm game. I stopped for a little lunch about 1:30pm, then back downstairs. Beth took the day and played POGO all afternoon. She left for church about 5:15pm. We had dinner about 7pm and then back downstairs to resume my Saturday tradition. I completed about 20 or so pages of scrap booking and watched exciting football games. How cool. Today's picture is of John Madden when he was inducted into the football hall of fame. I am sure going to miss him on Sunday Night Football.

Another week...

We had to get up early this morning as we were watching Payton today. It was finally Beth's turn to not be able to sleep and she had been awake since 3:30am. She let me sleep until 7:30am which is good for her. Had breakfast and Payton was here about 9:30am. We played for a while and then Beth headed to the grocery store and Payton and I took a nap, well he did anyway. He got up around 1:30pm and we had lunch. Rain fell all day today and boy was it cold. We both had on long sleeve shirts. The high today was only 63 and was very damp. We headed to the foot doctor's about 4pm. It is amusing if you have a kid with you you don't have to wait. Payton was very good while we waited. The doctor came in about 10 minutes later and we talked. She did some stress tests and decided that I needed to keep the boot on another week or two. I was not very happy about it but I really think it is the right decision. I sure don't want it to go back hurting again. So we will see if I have to wear it next Sunday to the game. Will try walking a little on it Saturday and see how it feels. Real bummer. Beth went to pick up Kyle about 6:15pm and then we had dinner. DJ and Maggie went to New York for some 9/11 celebrations and come by to pick up the boys around 7:45pm. Beth took a nap on the couch, but is heading to bed. Today's picture is of Payton playing with Play-dough.

Football season in the air...

I decided the chest freezer needed to be defrosted and cleaned out. So off I went to work on that. Today was a shopping day for Beth. I had made a Sam's list and a grocery list for her. Dawn came over about noon and they headed to Exton for shopping. I then decided that our bathroom needed to be cleaned, so off I was to do that. I am so tired of this boot and glad to be going back to he doctor tomorrow. Beth and Dawn finished shopping, well except for going to the grocery store, about 4:30pm. I divided all the meat that Beth got and put into vac-u-seal bags for the freezer. Dawn called Jo about 5pm to see what she wanted her to pick up for dinner. Well as it turned out, we ordered from the Italian place down the street and had dinner together. It was really nice visiting and eating with good friends. We are now watching the Phillie's game but really waiting for the first regular season foorball game to start. I am so excited and can't wait for the season to begin. College football on Thursday and Saturday and Pro on Sunday and Monday. Today's photo was taken at the Eagles Youth Carnival last year.

Shot day...

I was up before the alarm went off this morning. I had a hard time sleeping again last night. Not sure what is going on, but I wish it would stop. We had to be at Dr. Bill's office at 9am then back home. Beth had to be at the doctor's office at 12:45 for her shot in the neck. Dawn came over about noon. She was driving us since I still have this stupid boot on and can't. So thanks to Dawn for being the driver today. Beth had to start taking her valium about 11:30am so by 12:45pm she was pretty loopy. We got her checked in and they took her back about 10 minutes later. the procedure took about 45 minutes and then we were able to go back. They checked her blood pressure and pulse for about 2o minutes before she was released. Dawn dropped us off and Beth slept the rest of the day. I finished putting together 2 grocery lists, one for Sam's Club and one for Giant. Beth and hopefully Dawn will go shopping tomorrow. We are having a start of the football season party on Sunday. It is raining right now, so holding my breath that the roof does not leak too much. Today's picture was taken at the KC Zoo.

Looking for Paneling...

Beth had to get up early as she had a doctor's appointment at 8:30am in Allentown, which is about an hours drive from our house. I on the other hand slept until 9am. After lunch, we headed to Lowe's to look at paneling for the guest room. The guy was to come by tonight to give us an estimate on repairing the room and we wanted to see what was available. Let me tell you, not much. We were looking for something that was paneling but did not look like paneling. Found a couple of things but nothing that really jumped at us. So we headed to Home Depot and they had even less. So back home it was. I finished laundry and Beth took a nap. It is 8pm and the guy had not shown up or called. Does not sound real reliable to me. Busy day tomorrow with chiropractic appointments and Beth getting her shot in the neck. Today's picture was taken at the KC Zoo. It is a turtle with something in his mouth that looks like, but is not, a cigarette. So funny.

Happy Labor Day...

We slept in late this morning. We had breakfast and Beth went to the store for ice. We completed almost everything we needed to do for the party last night. DJ, Maggie, and the boys got here around 1:30. Kim, Lynne, and Jojo came about 10 minutes later. It was very cloudy and a little cool, so swimming was out of the question. I went with DJ to take Kyle to a swimming party around 4pm. When we came back, Beth had started the grill and we put the burgers and hot dogs on. It was nice to just be able to sit around and chat all afternoon and enjoy good food. Dawn and Jojo were not able to make it, Dawn was a little better, but needed some rest. DJ had to pick up Kyle at 6pm so they left a little before then. Kim and Lynne about left an hour latter. We are now just relaxing and enjoying watching a little college football. I love football season. Today's picture is of Jeanette with Eagles starting Tight End Brent Celek. This was taken on our Eagles Cruise in March 2009. I don't know what is making the shadow on Jeanette's face.

Saying Goodbye

Today was unlike any that we had experienced before. We got up at 6:30am in order to be ready to leave by 8am. We headed to Dawn and Jojo's to say good-bye to the boys before they left for the last time. There were about 8 of us there lending support as we had so many times over the last 13 months. It was really hard to look at the boys and know we would never see them again. Even though we have know for several weeks that this day was going to come there is no way you can prepare yourself for the flood of emotions you will have. And you know that what you are feeling is no way close to what Dawn and Jojo are feeling. So when the doorbell ran at 10am it was hard to fight the urge to not open it, but you know you have to. How do you say good-bye to a 2 year knowing that you will never see them again? You want to be upbeat for them to make it easier but you know inside your heart is breaking. So after everyone hugged, kissed, and said their good-byes to each boy, they were on their way to the birth mom and on to a new chapter in their life. We know that it is so not fair, they have been so loved this last year and they will take that with them. It was sure a strange feeling after they left. We sat around and talked a little. After about an hour everyone slowly started to leave. We had talking about everyone coming over to our house after 2pm to swim and just hang, but that was not to be as Dawn was running a temperature. We talked to Jo again later in the evening and she was taking Dawn back to the hospital. She still had a fever and it was not coming down. We are still waiting to hear from them as to what the issue might be. So today's picture is one last look at a great couple who gave everything they had to a set of twin boys that came into their life 13 months ago.

One last evening...

We had to be up early as the roofer was to be here at 9am to talk about the roof. We took showers and had a quick breakfast. About 8:45am the roofer called and said he was unable to get the sample of the shingles as the distributor was closed. He asked if another day during the week would work. After talking to him we determined what color we needed and Beth was able to get her questions answered, so additional meeting was not necessary. We just have to sign the estimate and fax it back to him. So much for getting up early. Beth went out to weed whack and returned about 30 minutes saying her knee was hurting. We called Kyle to see if he wanted to cut the back grass and do the floors for money. He said sure and Beth went to pick him up. I did not think he would ever finish the upstairs floors as he was Mr. Jabber Jaws today. But finally he finished and went outside to cut grass. Beth finished cutting the front and then took a shower. After Kyle finished, we took him home and headed over to Dawn and Jojo for dinner. This will be the last evening we spend with the boys as they will go to their birth mother tomorrow. They were so cute and full of energy tonight, We were asked to come back over in the morning to lend support. It will be very hard saying good-bye. Today's picture we taken the last time the boys were over swimming with us. We hope they enjoyed the pool as much as we enjoyed having them over. Our best wishes and prayers go with them.

Another quite day...

We both slept in really late this morning. We had a light breakfast and off running errands. We had to go to Lowes, CVS, the UPS store, and then to get diesel for the car. I printed off about 120 pictures to get started on scrap booking tomorrow. I am so far behind and have so much to do. But college football is on tomorrow and that is great for scrap booking. Jojo called this afternoon to tell us that Dawn had a doctor's appointment and the doctor then sent her to the hospital for some tests. They thought it might be her gall bladder. So we were on stand by in case they needed us to either pick up the boys or be with Dawn while Jo picked up the boys. Fortunately they could not really find anything wrong and sent her home. I can see with what is going on with them right now, stress is running high for both of them. We are going over tomorrow evening for one last visit with the boys before they leave Sunday morning. It will be sad, but it is time to move forward with their life. The roofer will be here at 9am tomorrow so no sleeping late. We are looking at having them install a solar fan in the attic. So we will see what he has to say about them. As I was printing pictures today I saw this and it reminded me of the Merak's on the TV program. They are so cute. Beth isn't so sure that "cute" is the right word to describe them.

A quite day.

Kim brought Jojo over around 10am this morning. I called the foot doctor's office and was told to come in at 1:15pm so they could fit the new insole. Beth and Jojo went to the store. Beth does really well at getting what is on the list. According to Beth, Jojo was the one that picked out the donuts since they were sure not on the list. LOL We had lunch and then headed to the doctor's office. I was not sure how they were going to fit the insole as I am still wearing the boot. Beth and Jojo waited in the car because we were not sure how long I would have to wait and waiting much longer than 5 minutes is hard for a 4 year old. To my surprise I got right in. There was no fitting needed. I have to slip the insole inside the boot for about an hour a day to get used to it. Fat chance of getting used to it in the next week and half. She did say that I should not walk on it until I see the doctor next which is not until next Friday. I was hoping to walk a little on it before the visit, but no way. I am watching the Eagles last preseason game and Beth just finished watching the Phillies win. It was a great game. We have the roofer coming over Saturday to get us set up for a new roof. We called the insurance company and will will pay the estimate amount for a whole new roof and the check should be here in a couple of weeks. So that was very good news. We have a call into the handy man the did the ceiling work for Beth's mom to see if we can get an estimate on doing the guest bedroom. So things are moving in the right direction. I love today's picture as it showed the humming bird going backwards. It is so cool.

Why is life not fair ?

For some ungodly reason I could not sleep last night. I finally got up at 4:30am. I played a few games on Pogo, then decided to clean off my desk and file away paperwork. Guess I had too much on my mind to sleep. Then I got to thinking, when I say 'Life is not fair', what the heck does that really mean. So I posed that question to my face book friends. Got some interesting responses and I am not sure of the answer. I would have to say some days are good and some days not so good, but in the big picture I would say it is a wash for me at least. Ok give me a break, it was 5am in the morning. The roof guy got here about 11am to take a look at the damage to the roof. He agrees that there is hail damage and the needs to be replaced. He thinks we might have a couple more little leaks on the roof but nothing major except for the valley area, which we already knew about. So not the big question is how much will they pay. We still need a new roof no matter what. So we will call tomorrow and see when work can begin, We also have to have the chimney repointed and they will not pay for that, We called today and they said it would be 3 weeks before they could come out to give us an estimate and then 2 weeks after that to get it done. We still have to call someone to give us an estimate on fixing the wall and ceiling in the guest room. What a pain in the butt. Beth worked around the pool area today. Picking up pool toys and trimming the plants. We are down to only a couple of tomato plants, but they produced a lot this year and were very tasty. Kyle started football practice today at school. He said they got their helmet, pads, and lockers today. He was very excited. I am hoping to make it to practice as soon as I get this damn thing off my leg which will not be for another week and half. The doctor's office called today and said the custom insole was in and I could come by and pick it up tomorrow. Yea, I get to go out. Beth is going to the grocery store so I have to finish the list for her. She is so strict and only gets the things on the list. How boring...LOL Today's picture is again of the humming bird. He or she is become a regular at the feeding pot.

A Guest for Dinner..

We did absolutely nothing today. Beth woke up with a headache and can not take any aspirin because of the procedure she is having in 2 weeks. So we laid in bed until after 9am. We had breakfast then went to lay back in bed. I had been on my foot way too much the last couple of days so it was nice to have it up all day. After dinner, we noticed a hummingbird at the feeder out front. They are so cool. Today's picture and more to come is of the humming bird.
