The roofers showed up about 8am this morning. They began ripping off the old shingles. Buster was not at all happy about what was going on. It was a good thing he had a grooming appointment at 9am. I forgot how noisy it can get with getting a new roof. I finally gave up and went downstairs to organize my scrap booking stuff. My poor flowers took a beating today with shingles being shoved off the roof on to them. It is a good thing it is the beginning of fall and they do have much longer. I think the noise finally got to Beth about 3pm. It was a good thing Buster was ready to be picked up. It allowed her to get our for a while. Bang Bang Bang gets a little old after 6 hours of hearing it. The roofers finally finished up about 7pm. We still have some old shingles and paper in some of the top of the bushes. We are just hoping they were able to pick up most of the nails. They found several wasp nest in the gutters, because of the gutter guards we have. We told them not to put them back on, but to save them. We hope it will cut down on the number of bees and wasp we have around the house next years. Some of the nest were as big as your hand. Very scary. We will post the final picture of the finished roof tomorrow since it was way dark when they left.

Ew, I never thought about gutter guards giving things a new place to hide! When I was at the LA Zoo, they had these hanging glue trap things to catch bees, but I just figured out that they were really wasps getting caught up in them. Do wasps eat other wasps? It kinda looked like that was happening. Or maybe getting the extra pollen off them? Anyway, congrats on the new roof =)
